Turkish Prisoner of War
Beadwork snake

6 Foot Beadwork snake made by Turkish prisoners of war.  'Turkish Prisoner 1918'

During the First World War, many of the Turkish POWs, captured by the British and the Australians, often used their spare time to make art and craft pieces to trade for food, cigarettes, or as gifts. They ranged in size from 2 to 18 feet long. They were used as a child's toy but it is also thought that they were used as a tailor's pin cushion that would rest around the neck and dangle down each side
.
The 'skin' is crochet beads and it is stuffed with horse hair.
This snake was made by a Turkish POW and brought home by a British soldier whose estate came up for auction after his death.

This lovely piece is in excellent condition and 6 foot is a very good size.

Scarab clasp

 1950's or 60's
The clasp is an acrylic scarab set in a base metal clasp. Scarabs were very popular after the discovery of King Tuts tomb.
Very nice bead chain but one of the strands is broken.

Beads look to be German lamp worked rounds to me. Clear amber color with dark brown swirls.
